Type of Position: Temp to Hire
Shift: 1st Shift, 7am-3:30pm
Pay Rate: $16.50-$24.00 DOE
Position Overview:
As the hazardous material handler, your primary responsibility is to ensure the safe handling of all hazardous materials within the facility. Your duties include proper labeling, storage, and transportation of these materials in accordance with company policies and regulatory requirements. You will be accountable for maintaining and utilizing all necessary safety equipment, as well as training personnel on the appropriate procedures for working with hazardous materials.
Responsibilities:
Receive and inspect all incoming hazardous materials and ensure that they are properly labeled and stored in the correct location.
Operate Sit Down forklift and other material handling equipment to move hazardous materials around the facility safely and efficiently.
Maintain accurate records of all hazardous materials in the facility, including quantities, storage locations, and expiration dates.
Coordinate with other departments to ensure that hazardous materials are transported to and from the facility in accordance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
Follow all safety protocols when working with hazardous materials, including wearing appropriate protective gear and ensuring that all equipment is properly maintained.
Conduct regular inspections of hazardous material storage areas to ensure that they are clean, organized, and free from hazards.
Train all personnel working with hazardous materials on the proper handling and disposal procedures, as well as on the use of safety equipment.
Ensure that all hazardous waste is disposed of in accordance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of all relevant regulations and industry best practices related to the handling of hazardous materials.
Qualifications:
Able to interpret instructions both written and oral.
Knowledge of basic shop math.
Excellent communication in English and interpersonal skills.
OSHA 30 & Haz power 40 certifications preferred
Knowledge of relevant safety regulations and procedures.
Familiarity with hazardous material labeling and storage requirements.
Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.
Candidate must carry a valid driver s license.
Education and Experience: High School diploma or GED preferred. Minimum 2 years experience working with hazardous materials in a manufacturing or industrial environment. Previous Forklift experience is required. Drum lifter experience preferred.
Physical Demands: Ability to lift heavy objects and to occasionally exert push force up to 50 pounds. Must be able to stand for extended periods of time. Must have good eyesight and hand dexterity and be able to identify and distinguish colors.
Work Environment: Within safety guidelines, there will be exposure to noise, moving mechanical parts, oils/solvents, fumes, and odors that may affect the eyes, ears, nose, throat and/or skin.
