Job Description

A Block & Hardscape is looking for a Customer Service Representative to provide excellent customer service and to promote this idea throughout the company. The goal is to keep the department running in an efficient and profitable manner, to increase customer satisfaction, loyalty and to exceed expectations. Experience in the block industry is highly desirable but not required. Position is full time, Monday- Friday (8am-5pm) 


Responsibilities to include but not limited to:


• Responsible for taking orders and answering product questions on the phone and in person


• Take ownership of customer issues related to sales and production, and follow through to




• Responsible for dispatching trucks and yard workers


• Verify accurate inventory stock for customers


• Communicate clearly, concisely and courteously with customers by telephone, email, fax and face to face


• Ensure policies and procedures are followed


• Learn and remain up to date with products and services


• Maintain Credit policies/procedures for approval and delinquent accounts, as well as issuing credits as needed


• Office and facility duties




Qualifications and Education include:


• Strong ability to work in a high-call volume environment with regular interruptions


• Must have strong interpersonal communication and conflict resolution skills in communicating with customers


• Responsible for working with other customer service and yard staff to ensure customer


receives correct product quickly


• Able to perform numerical calculations to make changes, give quotes on quantities of product needed for projects and calculate weight limits for deliveries


• Must be able to type at a moderate, error-free rate


• Knowledgeable use of Windows computers, calculators, fax machines, copiers and typewriters


• Able to move files and records up to 15 pounds from ground level to 5 feet high


• Able to understand and follow directions in English as required by safety and job performance standards


• Responsible for understanding, implementing and consistently following procedures


• Bilingual a plus but not required.
